Stabilizers are a "must-have" if you are sewing creatively or working on an embroidery. They support your fabric while you stitch, keeping your work in shape and preventing any surface wrinkles. Here are just a few of their uses: Before starting your sewing, use iron-on stabilizers to strengthen very lightweight or stretch fabrics. Self-adhesive stabilizers can be used on delicate fabrics such as velvet, suede, and silk. Because the fabric is fully supported it can be embroidered without using a frame, avoiding unsightly hoop or frame marks. Water-soluble stabilizers are ideal for long-pile fabrics such as terry-towelling because they prevent stitches from sinking into the fabric and disappearing from view.
